A tropical place for sunbathing, dancing, drinking and eating at the Amsterdam waterside is definitely the Waterkant. Inspired by the beautiful place Paramaribo. Expect a good dose of relaxation with good food and Surinamese beers! Forget the beach during good weather and chill out at the Waterkant in Amsterdam West. The coolest place to chill!
This has a messy kind of style, that gives it a beautiful but raw vibe. It is ofcourse the Hangar in Amsterdam. Lets talk about the food. The menu mainly features Mediterranean dishes such as risotto, bavette with cavolo nero and baba au rum. So so yummy! The best thing is that the hangar has a super large terrace with a view on the IJ. Here you can relax in the summer the whole day and we love it!
This is the place to be in the summer! This city beach has a beach bar, restaurant and a large terrace by the water. Enjoy the sun on the terrace or the beach beds with special beers and luxury snacks or choose for an delicious fancy lunch or dinner in the restaurant.
All in all, this place feels like an holiday in your own country!
Mossel & gin

The gin menu features not only Hendrick’s, Monkey 47, Gin Mare and friends, but also an extensive list of creative gin cocktails. The Westergasterras is located on the historical side of the Westergas. Due to the gigantic terrace and the idyllic waterfront deck, this Amsterdam hotspot is ideal for terrace lovers. On the Westergasterras you are welcome all summer for a late breakfast, lunch, dinner, drinks and bbqs. Oh and now and then, they organize cool events. FUN!
Meneer Nieges was a hit from day one. And that is because this place has everything you need. Meneer Nieges has a huge terrace, where you can sit in the sun, by the water. You have to order at the bar, but that is completely fine, because the tasty snacks are to die for. A perfect place to have a lovely day with you friends.
Hidden between the monumental canal houses of the Nieuwe Herengracht and the Nieuwe Keizersgracht is the tea house Dignita Hoftuin, right behind the Hermitage in a beautiful city garden. A special place where you can go for breakfast and lunch. Ideal to escape from the bustle of the city. On the menu you will find delicious brunch dishes such as coconut yogurt with crispy muesli and a sandwich with mushrooms and truffle creme fraîche. Difficult to choose? Then go for a complete breakfast platter with a combination of sweet and savory treats!
On just a five-minute walk from central station you can find Hanneke’s Boom. This bar/restaurant is built and decorated with vintage items and looks a bit like a beach bar. That is what makes it so special, it feels like you are at a beach tent in the middle of city centre. In the summertime the place is packed with locals who come by boat. That means a lot of shirtless men, and we absolutely don’t mind that ;)!
We know, we know. The terraces will look different than we are used to the upcoming months, but we are happy that we are allowed to go there again! Furthermore, don’t go out everyday just do it for special occasions. If you want to go make sure you have a table reserved next month, so that you can enjoy the nice weahter with your besties.
